Searching for a Mom Purse in the Sea of Fanny (waist) Packs

It’s hard combine a functional bag with one that is attractive. A mom needs to keep her wits about her at all times and sometimes a stylish bag hanging off her arm is a magnet for those that would seek to remove her burden.

In my recent quest for a decent bag that I could hold on to while holding on to my toddler I came to the decision that I just would have to go the way of the fanny or waist pack.

Previously I had spent many long days searching for the perfect over the should messenger style purse that I could have dangle in front of me instead of behind me. I wanted leather and yes I wanted stylish. While I do love my bag it still gets a little unwieldy when my focus is my child or something else. I needed something not so vulnerable.

So again I’ve been spending many long days searching for the perfect fanny pack that won’t look too bad. Face it I’m a mom not a fashion icon. My goal, when out and about is not to look ultra stylish but to keep my child, myself and my finances safe.

So here is my running list of a decent looking fanny pack (is there such a thing?)

I started off looking at the Clava Vachetta Leather Wallet on a Waist

because I wanted leather but they seemed a bit bulky so…

Then I found these Piel Leather Classic Waist Bag. They looked a bit nicer but still had that fanny pack look I wasn’t willing to pay leather like prices for. I figure if I’m paying over $30 for a leather waist pack I want it to look sleek and NOT like a fanny pack.
