A Simple Wardrobe Plan for a Busy Mom

With children in tow we can often let ourselves go….
I didn’t mean to rhyme but I did mean to make a point. Just because your main focus is now your little ones doesn’t mean that you can’t look good too. Follow these tips to pull together a no fail wardrobe that makes you look good no matter how little sleep you got.
- Take a little time to pull together a few pieces
that you can mix and match for an easy to wear attractive wardrobe. No need to junk your whole closet. Just section off a space where you will start pulling together your tried and true staple pieces. No need to do it all at once either. You’ve sectioned off the space now just take time and as you discover items you love place them there and keep the colors corralled .
- Stick to just a few colors that look good on you. Instead of trying to wear a rainbow find your best colors and stick to them. That will make it easier when you go out shopping AND when you get dressed in the morning. I wear a variation of chartreuse, red, and fuchsia. These are my signature colors on top of black and browns. Yes I have other colors in my wardrobe but I’m drawn to these three.
- Until you get your core wardrobe together stay away from fads. One classic will last you many more years than five fads. You will find it easier to create outfits too.
- Use accessories to make different looks. Belts, scarves, and jewelry can change a look dramatically. And it doesn’t need to be bold either. Simple teardrop earrings, filmy scarves. Think of Sense & Sensibility
- If you like it go with it. Ignore trends and such just because something is in does not mean it will look good on you. Find what you like and go with that. I really like sheath dresses. Always have. A very good classic style of dress. About 6 years ago I made myself a wool one because nobody was making them anymore. Low and behold classics are back and it’s my latest Nordstrom catalog.
- Remember that the neutrals, black, white, and tan can take you from season to season.
Follow these six simple tips and you should have a classic, stylish, easy to wear wardrobe in no time.
