Preventing Bad Hair Days

Bad hair days can result for a lot of reasons. Let’s take steps to prevent them in the first place.

A lot of bad hair days can come from just not taking care of your hair in the first place.

Minimize the use of heated appliances such as blow dryers and flat irons. Find more natural, hair friendly ways of drying or straightening your hair. Try using a microfiber towel for faster drying. After a hair wash try placing your hair in ponytail high on your head as it dries to straighten it out. Get to love the softer look your hair has without the blow dryer.

Adequately condition your hair after shampoo and make sure to rinse thoroughly to minimize buildup. Invest in a hand held shower hose so you can pin point the spray at hard to reach areas like the back of the neck and behind the ears.

Sleep on silk or satin pillow cases. These will not dry out your hair like cotton pillow cases can and they are less abrasive on the hair strands.

Remove buildup from your hair by giving your hair a final vinegar rinse.  A few teaspoons of apple cider vinegar in quart of water is good. Or you can make a vinegar tea by mixing the vinegar with hair happy teas such as chamomile or rosemary.

Sometimes your hair just wants to ‘be’. Relax on the styling and products for a couple of weeks and give your tresses a chance to rest.
