Bad Summer Hair Days and How to Cope

It’s summer and with the high temperatures there are bound to be bad hair days.

How do you cope and get out of the house looking halfway decent with a little one clinging to your leg.

Well first of all know your hair length and have a set of styles you can turn to in a pinch.

With summer you’re talking hot temperatures, high humidity, and possibly even a dunk or two in the pool.

For most women with shoulder length and below hair ponytails are a life saver. You can place them towards the top of your head, toward the nape of your neck for a more elegant line and even off to the side behind your ear for a good night’s sleep.

For those with shorter hair or even those who prefer them headbands are a lifesaver. They also come in all styles and shapes. From plastic, to metal, to cloth that wrap completely around your head.

My tried and true headband for bad hair days is a black pseudo velvet baby I picked up a few years ago. It washes well. Doesn’t pinch my head too tight and sleeks my hair back to the point I get comments on how well it looks. I ended up picking up more in different colors. It’s also not too wide. Just about an inch and a half.

Next just because you’ve slapped your do in a ponytail or behind a headband don’t think it ends there. You may need a bit of product to deal with the errant tresses.

If your hair is completely messy it still will be in a headband or ponytail.

Keep your favorite hair products on hand for time like these. But you don’t want to over do it.  It could be that too much product got you in this mess in the first place. For some just a spritz of water will do and for the rest of us we might need to control the frizz so a pomade will do the trick.

Above all take heart. This too shall pass. As soon as you get a chance pamper your locks and beg them to stay in place.
