Skin Deep – Exfoliating the Face

We all want to put our best face forward. You know first impressions and all.

Having our best face means having a good facial care routine morning and night to ensure our skin stays at it’s best.

I am blessed (tongue in cheek) to have sensitive, dry skin and with the added addition to being allergic to soy.  I have had to steer clear of most store bought facial cleansers and treatments. So instead I turned to making my own.

I also notice that after a few weeks of using a good moisturizing facial care routine morning and night I discover that my face could use some exfoliating. The build up of dirt, oil and dead skin cells just leaves my face looking dull and flaky.

So I turn to exfoliating. There are many good chemical exfoliaters on the market but in an attempt to keep my face care as natural as possible and therefor limit the reactions I have due to an allergic reaction I look for a natural exfoliant.

You know one of the best natural, external things you can do to keep your facial skin in tip top shape is to exfoliate regularly. The frequency of your exfoliation will depend upon your skin type so keep that in mind.

I have two exfoliants that I regularly use. One is to add a bit of cornmeal to my homemade facial cleanser and the other is using the Claroderm Cleansing Cloth

I really like the Claroderm Cleansing Cloth
because it works with only water. Spending less than a minute on my whole face it removes all the build up and I have cleaner clearer skin without using any chemical preparations.

I follow with a simple toner and light moisturizer and my skin looks great!

Here is my regular facial care…

1. Dampen my face

2. Using facial cleansing oil (a lot of times this is just pure olive oil for me)

3. Remove with a fresh wash cloth

4. Toner

5. Moisturize

Here is my exfoliating routine…

1. Dampen face and Claroderm Cleansing Cloth

2. Use cloth on entire face in under a minute

3. Rinse with warm then cool water

4. Tone

5. Moisturize
