Facial Cleansing Oil
I figured after writing my post about exfoliating your face some might want to know about facial cleansing oil. This sometimes is a hard concept to grasp, cleansing your face with oil, but it does work. I used to balk at the idea too. Then in reading my vintage homemaking magazines I noticed that ‘THE’ way to clean your face late 19th early 20th century was with face creams which were just fully or partially hydrogenated oils turned into creams that were wiped off, toner, etc.
I was so baffled by this whole facial oil cleansing thing that I asked my sister. Very knowledgeable in all things chemical where beauty is concerned she related to me that oil dissolves oil. Woah! Concept!
So I google this of course and find out that yes it’s true. Then I signed up for an online facial course at iVillage, missed the whole course but luckily got the transcripts which included a recipe for a clarifying cleansing oil from Barbara Close’s Pure Skin: Organic Beauty Basics
Using a base of apricot kernel oil some drops of a few antiseptic essential oils and you get a nice facial oil that will help diminish black heads and keep your face moisturized to boot.
